Robust Resilience and Planning
Historically planning for disruptive event has revolved around business continuity planning and the support of both insurers and market resources. Today however the world faced with ever increasing levels of threat and insurers often limiting cover a new concept of Robust Resilience planning is being adopted by planners.
Resilience planning is the concept where business plans for the disruptive event which due to scale or complexity means that emergency services or market resources are unavailable. Robust resilience plans are intended to initially mitigate the effect of disruptive event and then provide defence and resilience against the ramifications. Robust resilience plans should encompass all aspects of disaster and business continuity planning but significantly identify the capability of the business to be self sufficient and self reliant in times of wide scale disruptive event. Robust resilience planning could for example be a requirement post bio terrorist event where controlled evacuation from the safe haven is impossible.
